Demolition on a residential lot means taking out what is no longer working, old beds, timber or brick borders, overgrown shrubs, dead trees, and getting it off the property so the space is a clean slate. It starts with figuring out exactly what is coming out and what is staying, since roots and irrigation lines near the work area need to be identified before anything gets pulled or dug.
The part that gets skipped on a rushed job is root removal. Cutting a shrub or hedge down at the base and leaving the root ball in the ground looks finished for a season, but many species common here will send up new growth right through a fresh bed or new sod. The other thing that gets missed is grading.
